Woman tries to commit suicide after finding husband dead

KOTA KINABALU - A distressed woman who allegedly tried to kill herself after finding her husband dead in their rented room in the city here is reported to be in stable condition.

It was believed that the woman in her 30s had just returned home from work when she found her husband hanging from a ceiling in the room.

Neighbours said she took a pair of scissors and cut her left wrist several times before stabbing herself in the 8pm incident on Friday.

They however managed to stop her hurting herself further when they went to her room following her wails.

Meanwhile, city police chief Assist Comm M. Chandra said initial investigations showed that the duo had an argument due to financial problems prior to the incident.

“The wife then went to work and left her husband alone in the room,” he said on Saturday, adding that she returned a couple of hours later to find his lifeless body hanging from the ceiling.

ACP Chandra said the very upset woman tried to take her own life by cutting her wrist and stabbing herself.

The woman and her husband’s body were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she was reported to be in stable condition.

A post mortem was also carried out on the victim’s body at the hospital.
