Cops say photos of beheaded man not from Tawau

KOTA KINABALU - Photographs of a beheaded man circulating in the social media were not of any gang clash in the east coast of Sabah.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman denied on Wednesday that the viral photograph depicting the severed torso of a man came from an incident in Tawau.

He said no such crime of beheading was reported anywhere in Sabah and urged the people to stop spreading such rumours in the social media.

"It is not in Sabah. We have got no such report," he said.

Meanwhile, in TAWAU, police here denied claims that two people were beheaded at Mile 4, Jalan Apas.

In brushing aside such claims as mere rumours, District Police Chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said there were no reports lodged.

"We strongly deny that the case happened in the district," he said.

He said police were taking a serious view of irresponsible quarters purposely circulating such photos via social media to cause worry among the people.

He said spreading such information to scare people is an offence under Section 505 of the Penal Code.

He advised those who receive such photos to refer to the police before circulating them to others.

Wikisabah believed that the pictures were taken in Mexico, of drug gangsters killing.
