Jones: I have yet to receive warrant

KOTA KINABALU - The woman named Doris Jones, who allegedly operates a social media-based secession movement known as Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia, claimed that she had yet to receive any warrant of arrest.

Jones, whose maiden name police had identified as Doris Yapp Kim Youn, 46, wrote on Facebook: “TETAP belum saya kena serve warrant. (Still, I have not been served the warrant).”

In her posting, Jones did not make any reference to a summons issued on Jan 16, ordering her to appear at the Kota Kinabalu magistrate’s court to face a charge for failing to appear in court under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act.

She also did not respond to questions about the latest warrant posed to her on Facebook by The Star.

On Tuesday, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman had said that Jones was a key figure behind the social media-based secession movement Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia.

In one of the chats on her Facebook page, she had blamed one of the friends who might have given details of her background to the police.

Jones apparently keeps in touch with her group through video conferencing, using tools like Skype.

However, little is known about Jones, although her family, who is originally from Penampang, has settled in Labuan.

She is widely believed to have married a foreigner and is currently living in Britain.

Some people who claimed to know about her background said she was based in London and might be a permanent resident.

She had previously worked in Australia.

Police have arrested 14 activists for distributing seditious materials allegedly promoting the separation of Sabah and Sarawak from Malaysia in Tuaran and Lahad Datu earlier this month.

  1. I think a Warrant of Arrest has to be served personally?
