Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has denied allegations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has started investigating 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have not received any notification of the alleged investigations.
“I’m referring to several articles which are being circulated on social media claiming that the FBI had begun investigations into MDB and the prime minister.
“The agency has not even requested for any form of assistance from PDRM in relation to the matter,” he said in a statement tonight.
As such, Khalid advised anyone interested in getting verification on the matter to contact the FBI directly in Washington and not refer solely to media reports. – Bernama
