Malaysiakini probed over 'DPP transferred' story

PETALING JAYA - The Malaysiakini office here was raided by officers from Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police on Friday.

It is learnt that 10 officers were at the office of the news portal in Petaling Jaya at around 5.15pm.

Reporters and editors of the news portal said they were not sure of the reason for the investigations. The officers were seen in discussion with Malaysiakini chief editor Steven Gan.

Malaysiakini said that it was being investigated for its report that a deputy public prosecutor at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission was transferred out of the special operations division.

The portal said MCMC had earlier recorded statements from Gan and a journalist in connection with the report published on Monday.

Malaysiakini earlier reported that Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had denied that a transfer order was issued for the officer, Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi, to be transferred out of the MACC.

On Wednesday de facto law minister Nancy Shukri confirmed that Ahmad Shazalee was involved in an internal transfer.
