Ex-IGP threatens to sue Raja Petra over claims he 'fixed' Anwar's sodomy case

Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has demanded controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin to retract and apologise within 14 days for an article alleging him of 'fixing' PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case.

In denying Raja Petra's allegation on news portal, Malaysia Today, Musa also said that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak were not involved in the sodomy case against Anwar.

He said the allegation against him was made in an article published on Dec 15, titled "How Mukhriz is going to become PM".

the write-up, he said Raja Petra had alleged that Dr Mahathir had used him and former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail to "fix up" Anwar's Sodomy 2 case.

"I'm giving him 14 days, starting today, to retract the article and to apologise for all the slander. If he fails to do so, I will lodge a police report and file for a defamation suit.

"Blogging does not mean that you can write the untruth. Freedom of speech does not mean you can lie.

"In my opinion, this is an attempt to smear Gani's and my image. This is a slander to all government servants. So I will talk to my lawyers and I will get justice," he said at a Press conference held at Shah's Village Hotel here today.

Raja Petra, who is currently believed to be residing in the UK, had described Musa and Gani in his article as "running dogs" to Dr Mahathir.

He claimed that Dr Mahathir was not satisfied with Anwar's release in 2004, and so he used Musa and Gani to ensure that Anwar would once again be sent to prison for sodomy.

"It's a very bad insinuation saying government servants are running dogs to politicians because sometimes, even we disagree with politicians. We just want to carry out our duties, that's all," Musa added.

When asked if he had discussed with Gani about taking action against Raja Petra, the former top cop said he was on his own and have not had any discussion with Gani.

On Raja Petra's claim in the article that Najib had nothing to do with Anwar's Sodomy 2 case, Musa said he agreed with the statement.

"No, Najib had nothing to do with the Sodomy 2 case." he said. - NST
