Uber driver in KK denies flashing housewife

KOTA KINABALU - A 35-year-old Uber driver, who is alleged to have flashed his private parts while ferrying a housewife and her child, has lodged a counter report denying the claims.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said that the suspect had denied flashing or fondling his private parts while driving the 25-year-old woman from the Likas Hospital to Luyang here on Monday morning.

“We have recorded his statement and he has also lodged a police report against the claims,” ACP Chandra said, adding that police were still investigating the case further.

He said the housewife had claimed that she had taken the Uber ride from the hospital to Luyang.

The woman and her daughter, who were sitting in the front passenger seat of the white Perodua Axia, said that the Uber driver had allegedly took out his private part while driving along the coastal road near the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque in Likas at about 10.30am Monday.

The woman claimed that she became frightened and alarmed and asked the suspect to immediately drop her off in Damai, near Luyang. A friend picked her up and lodged a police report immediately.

The driver claimed he did not say anything or touch her, said ACP Chandra, adding that the woman had also lodged a complaint with Uber headquarters about the driver.
