Malaysia's first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, referred to as 'Father of Independence', was just a "receiver of independence" handpicked by the British colonisers to safeguard their interests in Malaya, says national laureate A Samad Said.
"To me, Tunku was not an independence fighter. He was a receiver, the person approved by the British to 'receive' independence... the British felt that the 'receiver' must be a person who could take care of their interests in Malaya," he told a public forum in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Malaysia is not 54 years old
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) CLC Api Api Women Chief Priscilla Chong urges Junz Wong not to issue any statement which may not be representing the stand of DAP because his statement that Malaysia is 48 years old and not 54 years old is contradicting his party Secretary General Lim Guan Eng's statement.
"Everyone knows that Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman is mistaken to talk of Merdeka 54 years. As we all know, Musa as an Umno man, must follow the Umno stand that Malaysia is 54 years old.

Our 54 years Merdeka..?
By Amde Sidik
The 54 years of Merdeka was referred to Malaya, the states of Sabah and Sarawak aren’t included yet.
My calculation though rusty but I still believe it’s correct that Malaysia was formed in 1963 …the rest you can calculate, see if it tally.
For some time now the rakyat are forever getting confused of how best to address this Merdeka date issue, as everyone knows the disparity of time between the two mainlands in getting their independence day.

Merdeka for Malaysia should be September 16!
It is time to stop buying into a lie
But if you were to believe the Prime Minister writing in his blog, Sabah and Sarawak were only states that joined an already existing country! Surely the Prime Minister of Malaysia would know history and know how his own country was formed? It is plain that history is deliberately being re-written.
