DAP KK MP Speaks Less but Give Press Statement More

Daily Express Forum (16th Jan 2011)

The letter by KK Voter in last Sunday’s forum caught my attention. It was clear as ice that the MP for Kota Kinabalu, Hiew King Cheu, was not present in Parliament when he (Hiew) raised the matters of KK airport fire and delays in the runway extension.

Hiew, perhaps, only issued a press release with a written answer on Air Asia from the Ministry of Transport and added his questions on the fire and runway.

Our members of Parliament must wake up to the reality that voters are no longer ignorant of what goes on inside the Parliament debating chamber. Hiew as far as I know hardly spoke, His habit is to issue news statement to the newspapers to make it appear that he is very vocal and active in Parliament.

I have met Hiew at social occasions and sometimes tea at Foh Sang coffee shop below his MP office. He no longer remembers me but I know him. Friends said he is boastful and sometimes demeaning to his friends. Whether his YB status has got into his head nobody knows but he did say he is the only opposition voice in Sabah. Actually, he is lucky to be riding on the anti-BN sentiment in Kota Kinabalu.

Each day, he sends press statements of him visiting rubbish dumps, drains and odd things. His buddy, Edward Mujie, adjourns to a coffee shop in Bornion Centre. That is considered a day’s work for these DAP leaders.

It is no wonder that Hiew lost his DAP chairmanship to the lone DAP Assemblyman from Tawau, Jimmy Wong. Goodness me, there are only two DAP YBs and they had to fight each other!

It was reported that Hiew got only two votes (probably Edward Mujie and himself) and Jimmy got the other 10 votes. Most of the 10 DAP committee members who voted Jimmy were appointed by Hiew, actually. Hence, Hiew was back stabbed by his comrades.

Talk among DAP members in Sandakan is that Hiew did not share something in the Batu Sapi by-election. This led to massive unhappiness among DAP leaders in Sandakan, Anthony Teo and Simon Chok, were suspended.

So does DAP seriously think they can replace PKR as the leader in the Pakatan alliance? Think again.

Borneo Patriot.
