Kota Kinabalu, Feb 22, 2011: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) urges the Ministry of Education to look into the problems of teachers shortage in Sabah instead of using quality of education as an excuse to cover up the real problems.
Its Treasurer-General Datuk Wong Yit Ming, said he was informed that Sabahan teachers have not been given fair treatment to work in Sabah by the Education Department.
"Sabahan teachers working in Sabah cannot get any housing allowance even if they have been posted to work in rural areas away from home.
"However, any West Malaysian teacher who teaches in Sabah is entitled for RM1,300 housing allowances. The unfair policies have made the qualified teachers to teach in other states.
Wong also urge the BN State Governament to ask the Education Department to change the unfair policy.
"Sabahan teachers deserve an equal treatment as the West Malaysian teachers working in Sabah.
