The Rembau MP said the decision was reached following Bersih’s insistence to rally at the same point despite the government’s refusal to allow the poll watchdog to hold any rally in the capital city.
Khairy said it is their “constitutional right” to assemble and what they are doing – rejecting Bersih’s “confrontational approach” – is morally right.
However, he said, Umno Youth, under the Patriot programme, will appeal for a permit to be given for its rally to be held at Stadium Merdeka.
