Its president, Chua Men Nam, said dry rubber sheet production by smallholders in Sabah is more than 80 per cent and that the Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) has studied this matter.
"If the percentage of dry rubber sheets produced by our smallholders is only between 85 and 90 per cent, why is it that our rubber is being smuggled into Sarawak?" he asked in a statement.
He urged the Government to abolish the 10 per cent export tax for raw rubber materials. "If the matter is not addressed, pretty soon the smallholders would be selling rubber to Sarawak," he said. He said the processing costs that Yahya had mentioned in his statement have been taken into consideration by the LIGS.
In Sabah, he said the processing cost is RM1.60 per kilo while in the peninsula, private factories only deduct production cost at 0.80 sen per kilo.
The calculation for rubber sheets price with 80 per cent dry rubber sheets is as follows (SMR20: RM13.40 per kilo) x 80 per cent dry rubber sheets minus RM1.60.
Chua said the rubber sheetsw should be RM9.12 and not RM7.85 as stated by Yahya. He expressed regret that despite the matter having already been brought to the Government's attention, the latter has no solution to it.
"This really shows the Government has no resolve to settle the problem," he said. On the other hand, he said, being a government agency LIGS should not be making too much profit as it is against the LIGS Act.
Chua claimed that LIGS staff are also paid by the smallholders through the calculation of the raw rubber materials price.
He urged Yahya to ascertain the actual position of LIGS and that a body should be formed to conduct a study on rubber purchase, including marketing of rubber by LIGS to overseas.
He said there are several steps the State Government must do:
- Form a panel to determine the price of rubber by involving LGM, LIGS and Usaha;
- Abolish the 10 per cent tax so that smallholders could export rubber to Sarawak and the peninsular, and
- Urge the Federal Government to abolish the Cabotage Policy that is not bringing any benefit to the people of Sabah
UMNO Yahya hussein is sleeping in his job. In this coming GE13, all Sabah people to support local opposition party SAPP to be the Sabah government and reject all those party import from malaya.
ReplyDeleteWhy so many rubber from Sabah being smuggler out from Sabah to Sarawak and WM? Our enforcement sleeping?
ReplyDeleteHoping the government can study about their proposal to abolish the 10% tax exemption that could benefit the smallholder.
ReplyDeleteProcessing cost are high in Sabah.. Insufficient electricity supply that causes losses.. transportation are high.. all these would be the factors that the local factory facing high risks with incomplete infrastructure..
ReplyDelete"He urged Yahya to ascertain the actual position of LIGS and that a body should be formed to conduct a study on rubber purchase, including marketing of rubber by LIGS to overseas."
ReplyDeleteIts a good idea too.. Im sure problem can resolve soon.. Make sure the body can really perform their tasks and address the issues with effective solution.
Sabah rubber sheets should be sold at the same price as in West Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteHope that the government will work hard to solve this problem.
ReplyDeleteThe Sabahans now are getting Smart!!
ReplyDeletePlease make a calculation and study the things before you open your mouth.....
ReplyDeleteSolve the issue as soon as possible...
ReplyDeleteWhy appoint those agents to collect the rubber sheets from orang kampung since lembaga getah Sabah have enough lorry and staffs to do this simple job?
ReplyDeleteWhy all these agents are from UMNO? Ask Zakaria idris, why all these agents are his cronies?
Party malaya UMNO is useless party and cause our rubber price low if compared to Sarawak which running by local Sarawak party PBB.
Sabah people must reject all the party from malaya.
Standardised the market price!
ReplyDeleteWe wait the government to feedback about the matter. Im sure they will do the best for the people.
ReplyDeleteSelesaikan masalah dengan hati yang tenang. Kerajaan seharus membuat yang terbaik untuk rakyat.. Manfaat pekebun-pekebun kecil seharus dijaga..
ReplyDeleteI doubt whether Carbotage System bring any benefit and advantage to the people? Study and improve the limitation.
ReplyDeleteThey have their point there also about the 10% tax, Cabotage system etc.. Its needed to study about those proposal and to work out the best that really benefit the people yet not risk the government too..
ReplyDeleteWhy UMNO Zakaria idris appointed so many agents to collect the rubber sheets since Lembaga getah has more than enough lorries and staffs to do it?
ReplyDeleteWhy need to pay EXTRA money to UMNO agent?
This only happened in Sabah but not in WM and Sarawak.
Sabah UMNO is the most corrupted party in Sabah.
thanks for the correction.. I think the director of LIGS should resign immediately since he is still unable to solve the problem faced by LIGS and smallholders..
ReplyDeleteHope there is a solution for this ASAP.
ReplyDeleteMake a mistake again, walau better don't saylahhh...
ReplyDeleteHe expressed regret that despite the matter having already been brought to the Government's attention, the latter has no solution to it.
RM5,000 - RM1,550 = RM3,450.00. Campur dgn RM7,500 = rm10,950.00. Nah, alangkah jauh untungnya jika jual seludup ke Sarawak. sudah penat2 masih ada lebihan rm3,450. kalau jual sini2 sabah kamurang tetap compom dpt rm7500 saja.itupun kadang2 LIGS hutang lagi 1 2 minggu. tiada rm3,450 lagi. bainyak baitu rm3,450 tu. 3 biji Toyota Hilux VIGO pun bulih bayar sinang2. ada lagi baki rm600 utk bili 2 3 koton rimau bawah pukuk. jadi urang2 kampung, kamu sukung la ni usaha USAHA. Kalau diorang buli kasi paksa ni karajaan kasi sama itu haraga gata lagi huntung kita sini. inda payah pigi sarawak lagi. sinyum2 di kabun terima pulus ribu2. ARAMAI TIIIII................
