KOTA KINABALU: The foreign intrusion at Lahad Datu in February is a clear example of how the presence of foreign migrants in Sabah can pose a security threat, said the police.
Sabah police chief Hamza Taib in his evidence at the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into illegal migrants in Sabah said this is because the intruders had received support from migrants already settled in the state.
“The latest security implication (of foreign migrants) is the intrusion which had a deep impact, not only to security personnel, but also to the people of Sabah,” said Hamza (photo), who led the operations.
However, when asked by commissioner Herman Luping if the intruders had identity cards, Hamza said, “I disagree”.
“A 100 per cent of them are illegals; they were supported by locals – at least a portion of them (locals) – but not many, and we have charged them under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma),” he added.
‘Planters often hire illegals and pray for amnesty’
Plantation companies in Sabah often hire undocumented migrants as workers to fill shortages as they know that the government regularly offers amnesty to illegal migrants.
Testifying at the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into illegal migrants in Sabah, Aumkar Plantations general manager Nokiah Sanusi said this was also the practice at his company’s oil palm plantation in Kunak.
“When the amnesty programmes (were offered) all plantations have the opportunity to register all illegal workers and their dependents.
“When short of workers, we take the worker’s close kin (who enter illegally).
“Every two or three years the Sabah government has these amnesty programmes so (we hire the illegal migrants and) we pray that the amnesty comes,” he said to laughter in the Kota Kinabalu courtroom where the RCI is sitting.
To this, conducting officer Manoj Kurup(left) asked if his prayers have thus far been answered, Nokiah answered in the affirmative.
However, Nokiah stressed that only 60 out of the 800 foreign general workers at the company’s 7000ha plantation were illegal and all are now documented. – Malaysiakini
AMAZING CONCLUSION BY THOSE WHO OCCUPY & RULE OUR LAND!

If illegals are A "security risk" - how come it has taken 20 years for this to come public when the Police voiced concern around 1994-5???
UMNO BN criminally neglected to protect Sabah by lifting air surveillance and hiring Abu Sayyaf to smuggle in 1 million Filipino Muslims as instant voters in the mid-1990s.
Not only this, going back to 1970s UMNO secretly started to provide safe haven and training bases for Filipino insurgent groups to launch attacks on Philippines.
UMNO happy to use illegals as instant voters and outnumber Kadazan and Dusuns and other Sabahans who have the birthright to claim Sabah as home.
But Penadatang ketuanan UMNO had re-engineered the population so that real Sabahans have been disenfranchised and even dispossessed of their land!
So now they find out that illegals compromised Sabah Security!
THIS IS MORE UMNO BULLSHIT - TO SHIFT THE BLAME TO ILLEGALS!
UMNO COMPROMISED SABAH SECURITY FROM 1970S.
SECURITY WAS THE MAIN JUSTIFICATION FOR FORMING MALAYSIA.
IF UMNO CAN PROVIDE ITS GANGSTER PROTECTION WHAT FOR WE WANT MALAYSIA???
IN SARAWAK THE SARAWAk SOVEREIGNTY MOVEMENT HAS BEEN FORMED TO TAKE BACK SARAWAK SOVEREIGNTY!
SABAH HAS A SIMILAR MOVEMENT ALREADY. THEY MUST UNITE TO TAKE SABAH SARAWAK OUT OF MALAYSIA!
Golongan ini mengancam ketenteraman negara.
ReplyDeleteYOU MEAN UMNO & THE ILLEGALS?
DeleteUMNO FAILED MISERABLY TO PROTECT SABAH FROM ILLEGALS & SULUS INVASION AND THAT IS A REAL THREAT TO SABAH SECURITY!
MALAYSIA IS ONE COUNTRY-----AND 2 COLONIES!@
NO PRIZE FOR GUESSING RIGHT!
BN can do anything retain in power even to ruin the peace of the country.
