GE13: Young bumi voters supporting SAPP, claims Chong

PENAMPANG: Young voters are now throwing their support for Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), said its candidate for Kepayan, Chong Pit Fah.

He proclaimed this after receiving the membership applications from a group of young Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) voters from here, on Saturday, who believe that only a Sabah-based political party could bring about prosperity to the people and the State.

According to the group’s spokesman Samson Aaron Malinggang, he and his friends have decided to join SAPP after having weighed the pros and cons between Sabah-based political party and Malaya-based political party for the past few months.

“And we have found out that only a Sabah-based political party could serve Sabah better,” said Samson after submitting their membership application forms to Chong, at Kampung Kobusak, here.

Samson (pic - Samson handing over membership application forms to Chong (centre), meanwhile cheered by the other new members) believed that a Sabah Government headed by Sabah-based political party with full autonomy could administer Sabah more effectively, without any interference from Kuala Lumpur.

He said his group also blamed the exploitation by Malayan politicians for Sabah’s current sad situation of being a poor state despite all the rich natural resources.

He added that what makes matter worst was the high rate of jobless among youths, in which Sabah currently ranked the highest in Malaysia.

“Not only jobs are scarce but we, the local youths have to compete with foreigners,” he said blaming Kuala Lumpur controlled Barisan Nasional Government for causing hardship to Sabah.

He said Kuala Lumpur meddling in Sabah’s administration and their insincerity to address the perennial illegal immigrants problem has led Sabah to her lowest.

Samson said he and his friends support SAPP struggle for autonomy because only a Sabah Government with autonomy able to run the State smoothly.

Meanwhile, Pit Fah said SAPP was glad with the changes of the young voters’ mindset.

He said the support was a manifestation that the young generation has understood the need for an autonomous Sabah Government.

He added that a SAPP Sabah Government with its autonomy would definitely able to bring about the needed changes in all aspects.
