Police have made a breakthrough in their investigations in the murder of Arab Malaysian Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi after revealing today that they have the shooter's identity.
The shooter is said to be a 44-year-old part-time car reposessor.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said police also found a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol which they believe belongs to the shooter (pic).
"However, that was not the gun used in the murder of Hussain Najadi," Ku said.
Police raided the shooter's house and obtained all his personal identification which they said will come in handy in nabbing him.
"We believe that he is still in the country," Ku said, adding that the photographs released of a suspect in the shooting last week confirmed that police were on the right track.
On the taxi driver who was detained after the shooting on Monday, Ku said the cabbie led police to an apartment in Brickfields where they found the gun.
The cab driver allegedly told police that someone had asked him to hide the firearm.
Hussain, 75, was shot on Monday as he was walking with his wife at a carpark in Jalan Ceylon. He was killed on the spot while his 44-year-old wife survived after being shot in the thigh and arm.
