KUALA LUMPUR - City police yesterday detained eight men and two women dressed in black — as if resembling mystical warriors — after they failed in their miserable attempt to take over the administration of Istana Negara.
They had apparently gone to the palace with the intention of taking over the palace’s administration as they claimed they were the rightful owners of the throne.
During the brazen attempt at 4.10am, the group, identifying themselves as Kumpulan Panji Hitam from Timur Empire Langkasuka Nusantara, gathered in front of the main entrance of the palace.
A police source said they had made their way to the palace in three black cars, each bearing a flag emblazoned in Jawi.
“Upon receiving a call from the security team of the palace, quick police action prevented the group from barging into the palace.
“We immediately arrested the 10 members of the group and took them to the Travers police station,” said the source.
None of the group members was armed and police checks on the three vehicles found no weapons.
However, police seized a total of 13 flags, mostly black in colour, and several official-looking appointment letters, believed to belong to the group leader.
The source added that all three vehicles had flags apparently bearing the Kalimah Syahadah.
Initial investigations and background checks on the suspects showed that three out of the eight men had no legitimate documentation.
“Everyone in the group had come from different states such as Johor, Malacca, Perak and Kedah.”
All group members are being detained and a remand order is expected to be obtained on them.
“Further investigations on the group and their background are under way,” said the source.
City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah confirmed the incident and said the eight men and two women were in police custody.
A press conference on the case is scheduled for today at the KL police headquarters.
