Friday deadline for objections to KK plan

KOTA KINABALU - An environmental group has urged members of the public to register their objections to the Draft Kota Kinabalu Local Plan by this Friday.

Referring to today’s City Hall confirmation of the deadline, a statement from the Sabah Environmental Protection Association (SEPA) said:

“This is your opportunity to be heard by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) on the Draft Kota Kinabalu Local Plan 2020. You can do so by going down to DBKK or through email, fax or writing in.

“Check the map for changes in the places you are interested in and write in to object if you disagree. This is our right as members of the public.”

The statement, signed by SEPA secretary Julia Hwong, said the public could read instructions and sample letters on a Facebook page called Save Tanjung Aru Beach on the matter of rezoning areas of the beach.

“SEPA thanks DBKK for providing the extension due to public outcry with the original deadline being May 22,” it said.

“However, we hope in the future that DBKK will bear in mind that they need to provide ample time and avenue for feedback from concerned members of the public.”
