SOS KK hands over Objection to Tg Aru Zoning Petition to Mayor

KOTA KINABALU - More than 1,300 signatures were collected during the 3-hour awareness campaign at Big Beach Gathering at Tanjung Aru 2nd Beach on 25th May 2014.

The group called SOS KK (Save Open Space Kota Kinabalu) led by Papi John handed over the signed objection letter containing the signatures collected two weeks ago, appealing to the DBKK Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir to reconsider the recent zoning of Tanjung Aru into a commercial area for hotels and resorts with a counter proposal that the said zone be rezoned into Landscape and Open Space for public use.

They thanked the mayor for allowing time to receive their memorandum letter.

Another signature campaign will be launched on 22 June 2014 at the Tanjung Aru 2nd Beach to appeal to the Chief Minister to return Tanjung Aru to the people previously promised by him.

The campaign which will start at 3:00 pm till sunset and will include activities such as beach cleaning (Gotong Royong).
