SHAH ALAM - Seven suspects were detained after allegedly robbing a gold merchant of some RM2mil in cash and gold bars.
The 25-year-old victim was robbed of RM1.65mil in cash and 40 gold bars worth about RM14,000 each when a about 11 people went to his premise in Putra Heights and robbed him at about 10.30pm on Dec 23.
It is learnt that the suspects hit him on the head with a blunt object before fleeing with the loot.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police managed to recover RM259,520 cash and four gold bas.
“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had even knock the victim with a blunt object before fleeing with the loot.
“We believe the suspects may have been customers of the victim previously,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters on Monday.
He also requested the assistance of the public to track down Muhammad Fuad Mat Isa, who last known address is at no. 175, Jalan Dagang 1/5, Taman Dagang, Ampang, to assist with the investigation.
“We are looking for the remnants of this gang.
“We hope to catch them as soon as possible,” he said.
