Lawyer Americk Singh posed a series of questions to Razak Baginda, in a statement released after an interview with Razak Baginda was published in the Malaysian Insider, and said: “What Razak Baginda is trying to make us believe is totally illogical.”
He questioned why Razak Baginda appeared to be trying to shield Najib.
“He keeps saying Najib is an innocent victim, that Najib has been dealt with unfairly, that this is all a political stunt and that there is no connection between Najib and Altantuya’s death” &…..; even though no one had accused Najib of being involved, Americk said.
The lawyer pointed out that Razak Baginda had yet to specifically deny that he had told Bala about Najib’s involvement with Altantuya, as Bala had stated.
Americk asked why Razak Baginda had avoided mentioning anything about “Najib, Rosmah, Nazim Razak, Deepak and a host of other personalities” being involved in ensuring that private investigator P Balasubramaniam and his family were evacuated from Malaysia after Bala made his statutory declaration. “This doesn’t really lend any credibility to Razak Baginda’s assertion that Najib is an innocent victim of political subterfuge.”
Americk had represented the late P Balasubramaniam, who was hired by Razak in connection with alleged harrassment by Altantuya. Bala later made a statutory declaration about his involvement in the case, recounting events in detail, but was forced to go into self-exile in India for six years. He returned in March 2013 but died of a heart attack a few weeks later.
Americk asked whether Razak Baginda was trying to shield Najib Razak, whether Razak “knows more about this whole sordid affair than he is letting on” and questioned how two policemen and a Najib aide, Musa Safri, became involved.
Why did the two convicted policemen, Sirul and Azilah, murder Altantuya when they didn’t even know who she was, and for no apparent reason and no provocation?
Did Razak tell Bala about a relationship Altantuya supposedly had with Najib, as Bala had stated?
Did Razak mean Azilah when he said “delay her (Altantuya) until my man comes” in an SMS to Bala when Altantuya had turned up outside Razak’s house. Azilah turned up 15 minutes later with Sirul and another police officer Corporal Rohaniza. “This trio drove Altantuya away and she was never seen again,” Americk said.
What was Razak’s relationship with Musa Safri, an aide to Najib Razak? “Why did Razak Baginda call Musa Safri and ask him to speak to Bala on his handphone? How and why was Musa Safri involved in all this? Who suggested Razak Baginda contact either Azilah or Musa Safri?” Americk said.
Why were Sirul and Azilah invited guests at Razak Baginda’s house for a Hari Raya function in 2006?
Why didn’t Razak Baginda deliver a statement to Asst Supt Tonny of Brickfields police, as promised, about alleged harrassment by Altantuya’s cousins? “He said he would download it on a thumb drive to hand over to ASP Tonny. He never did this. Why?”
Why had Razak Baginda apparently gone to Hong Kong on his own, one week after Altantuya’s murder?
Finally, Americk asked if Razak was preparing to sue him for saying that Bala always felt Razak was innocent of the murder. The lawyer added: “This is something I cannot prove.”
