KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) says it is up to its members whether they want to join Bersih's rally.
SAPP supreme councillor Yong Yit Yoong said that members are free to join at their own free will as individuals but they are not allowed to use SAPP as their platform because this rally is organised by the Sabah Bersih which supposedly to be non-political and by the people.
He said that SAPP members had joined Bersih events in the past and did not fly the party's flag as it would be a disrespect to the hard work and effort by the rally organisers.
SAPP will be involved in a prior commitment with United Sabah Alliance and other NGOs where a series of events that starts from 29th August till 31st August at its final destination in Kundasang celebrating 52 years of Independence Day for Sabah themed "Sabah Day 2015". Therefore, Yong said, some events will definitely clash with the rally date.
Yong said SAPP has always been supportive of the cause like cleaning the electoral rolls and fair election in Malaysia which was Bersih's main propaganda.
He hoped Bersih participants should avoid violence and this will defeat their purpose for a peaceful rally for "Clean and fair election".
