The Moot Court, where the Legal and Prosecution Cluster conduct training for MACC officers undergoing basic training in law and investigations, will be known as the Kevin Morais Moot Court.
Deputy Commissioner of Operations Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said the move to immortalise his name is purely as a tribute to his work and services.
“Morais was very dedicated in his job when he was with the MACC,” he said in a statement today.
The decision to immortalise Morais' name was made after obtaining the consent of the MACC’s Chief Commissioner and Senior Management.
Morais was the Attorney General’s Chambers Appellate and Trial Division deputy head.
A special ceremony will also be held in Morais' honour during the 48th anniversary of MACC on October 1.
Mohd Shukri said that Morais' murder was a great challenge to the MACC, but it will not break the spirit of officers in fighting corruption.
“Following Morais' death, the prosecution of the case will be handled by a senior deputy public prosecutor now attached with MACC,” he said.
Morais, 55, was reported missing on September 4 after he left his Menara Duta apartment in his Proton Perdana to his office in Putrajaya, but never turned up and could not be contacted since. His body was found 12 days later in a concrete-filled drum in USJ1 Subang last Wednesday.
To date, the police has remanded six individuals including the military doctor to facilitate investigation.
