A deviant sect is believed to have bought parcels of land in Malaysia to set up its command, according to the police.
Bukit Aman Social Extremist Threats Division principal assistant secretary Datuk Awaludin Jadid said Millah Abraham had bought land also in Tuaran and Simunjan in Sabah.
It planned to establish its Daulah Islamiah under the command of one Ahmad Musadiq who hails from Indonesia, he told reporters after giving a briefing at a special seminar on national security threats at the Home Ministry complex here Wednesday.
Information gleaned from confiscated documents shows that the sect has drawn up its cabinet which includes 13 governors. The land in Sabah seems to be the promised land of their chief," he said.
He said the clearing of the land in Simunjan ceased after a tractor crashed into a river recently.
Awaludin said the strategic location of Simunjan and Tuaran facilitated travel to eastern and northern Kalimantan as the Daulah Islamiah of Millah Abraham also encompassed Indonesia besides Sarawak, Sabah and peninsular Malaysia.
He said the police assisted the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to investigate 80 arrested followers of the sect recently.
Awaludin said Millah Abraham did not engage in violence and human trafficking.
"We will be careful not to overlook any issue, more so in Perlis which is used as an entry and transit point by foreigners," he said.
