KUALA LUMPUR - A senior politician is reportedly under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over allegations of abuse of power in awarding tenders.
The New Straits Times said the man’s wife was called in two weeks ago to have her statement recorded, and the politician was expected to be called to MACC today.
Further details about the man were not available, and it was not known whether he is an MP or a state assemblyman.
MACC investigations director Azam Baki declined to comment on the matter when contacted by NST.
Earlier this week, three senior civil servants, one with a “Datuk Seri” honour and another with a Datukship, were questioned on suspicion of being involved in corruption, abuse of power and
money-laundering.
The three are from Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Public Works Department and Tenaga Nasional Bhd, and were picked up in the capital, Malacca and Kota Baru.
MACC said it had frozen a total of RM13 million in bank accounts and investments.
