Security forces will redouble their efforts to secure the waters off Eastern Sabah to combat kidnapping.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the main objective was to ensure there was no kidnapping on land.
“For one and a half years we made sure no kidnappings happened on land but now the kidnappings are occurring at sea, and we are redoubling our security efforts.
“It is more challenging as the borders are longer and we have the issue of spying to deal with,” he told reporters after launching the Financial Crime and Terrorism Financing International Conference held at a hotel here yesterday.
He said the allegations of security forces personnel revealing information on the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) were being taken very seriously.
“Let us investigate. This is a serious matter and we do not want to reveal too much about our investigations and let the suspects know what we are doing to trace them,” Nur Jazlan said.
