GEORGE TOWN - Lee Thean Chye (pic), the father of JJPTR founder Johnson Lee, has resigned from the university college he has been serving for the past year.
The former assistant professor of Southern University College (SUC) in Johor was on a week’s leave beginning Tuesday.
He tendered his resignation letter a day later.
The SUC board members announced yesterday that Thean Chye’s resignation was accepted and would take effect immediately.
According to the SUC website, Thean Chye joined the university college on April 18, last year.
Meanwhile, a neighbour of a condominium unit in Jelutong, said Johnson stayed there for a while, but rented it out about two years ago.
“He was hardly home,” said the neighbour, adding that some foreign workers were renting the unit now.
JJPTR came into the spotlight recently after it claimed that its accounts had been hacked, resulting in potential losses of RM500mil. Johnson had reportedly put the figure at RM1.75bil.
On Tuesday, Johnson carried out damage control by claiming that he would come up with a “very good” new plan within the next few days, it was reported. He hoped to unveil the new plan by May 1, reports stated.
