Ooi Kok Wei, who caused a stir when he was escorted into court by policemen, as many in the public gallery and in the dock had recognised him, is alleged to have committed the offence at Jalan Sungai Besi at about 3.45am on May 6.
He is alleged to have driven his BMW while under the influence of alcohol.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim urged the court to impose a bail of RM4,000 in one surety.
Counsel Mohamed Nizam Mohamed Fazil, in requesting a reasonable amount of bail for his client, said that Ooi is 31-years-old and as a freelance deejay and dancer, had represented Malaysia in many competitions internationally.
"He is a law-abiding citizen, does not have any previous conviction and has given full cooperation. He is a non-existent flight risk and bail is only given to ensure court presence."
Magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abd Rahman fixed bail at RM2,000 in one surety and fixed June 15 for mention and document submission.
A few days ago, a video clip had emerged on social media depicting a man, suspected of being intoxicated, behaving in a hostile manner towards a police officer who had asked him to take a breathalyser test.
In the one-minute-and-43-second video, the man is seen in the passenger seat of a car driven by a traffic policeman.
He is heard saying that the police had pulled him over and asked him if he had been drinking. He said he responded by saying that he is a DJ at a club, but he did not drink.
It is learnt that the breathalyser revealed otherwise, so the police took him to a police station.
