North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the trio would be passed over to Penang police for “their side of the investigation into the money scheme”, The Star daily reported.
Lee and his two senior aides who have not been named were arrested in Petaling Jaya, Selangor last Tuesday following a joint raid by government agencies including the police on eight JJPTR offices.
The trio were held in remand at the Bandar Baru Klang police station until yesterday afternoon, when they were then taken to the Kapar Indah police station for their statements to be recorded, and returned to the former police station two hours later.
Lawyers for the trio said their clients had cooperated fully with police, the daily reported.
The Penang-based money game scheme is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for the offence of cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, which comes with a penalty of minimum one-year to maximum 10-year jail term, whipping and a fine.
The Star also reported that a JJPTR dinner banquet scheduled to be held at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel here tonight has not been called off despite the arrests.
It said the Berjaya Times Square Hotel Events Department confirmed that the vegetarian “thousand-people banquet” is scheduled to be held at its Manhattan Hall at 7pm.
