KOTA KINABALU - Over RM10 million in cash were seized in a raid by the State Immigration department here.
The recovery was made by a team in a swoop dubbed Ops Gegar here in the early hours today.
A total of 21 people were held in the operation from about 1am. Of the total 19 were foreign women.
The operation saw the raiding party checking a fitness centre at a hotel here and was later led to an apartment unit in the vicinity.
A source with the Immigration department said the team recovered a “large sum” of cash amounting more than RM10 million.
"The process of counting the money is still ongoing to ascertain the exact amount of cash seized in the operation," the source said.
Sabah Immigration director Musa Sulaiman when contacted declined to comment on the operation.
"There will be no comment at the moment. Wait until tomorrow," he said.
