Three way split: PAS: Yes, DAP: No, PKR: minimise?

Hazlan Zakaria

The Selangor MCA wants the state government to clarify its stand on the 'guideline' from local council MPSJ 'reminding' business owners not to employ Muslims in entertainment outlets serving alcohol.

mca wong sai hou"Don't be like Cerberus, the three-headed dog that guards the gateway to the underworld of Hades. PAS says yes, DAP says no and PKR says, to minimise," said the party's PJ Utara federal development coordinator Wong Sai Hou (right), evoking the mythical creature from Greek legend.

He was speaking at a press conference at the MCA service centre in Petaling Jaya today.

According to Wong, Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali had expressed support for the MPSJ move, while DAP's exco member Ronnie Liu ordered it halted, and MB Khalid Ibrahim from PKR, said that they wanted to minimise the number of Muslims who serve alcohol for a living.

"Who is actually running the state? Is it PAS, DAP or Pakatan?", chimed in state MCA Complaints Bureau head Theng Bok.

MCA further claimed that this is indicative of the dilly-dallying and the 'status quo' policy of Pakatan, similar to the state government's backtracking on its previous bans on alcohol sales and the 1Malaysia logo.

"They must clarify. Can a Muslim work in premises that serve alcohol? Yes or no? It cannot just be a guideline, you cannot say you just want to 'minimise'."

NONE"We want the MB, the exco in charge Ronnie Liu and DAP to clarify," said Hulu Selangor MCA chief, Wong Koon Mun (left).

Koon Mun, who is also Kuala Kubu Baru assemblyperson, further challenged PAS and Pakatan to stop the more serious problems of massage parlours, pubs, and Muslims consuming alcohol before harping on the smaller issue of Muslims working serving alcohol.

"If they are really serious about enforcing Islamic law, that's what they should be doing," he added.

Koon Mun also lamented the host of sensitive issues which seem to crop up under Pakatan's stewardship of Selangor.

"Things like this did not happen when BN ruled. We should keep these kinds of sensitive issues from cropping up," he concluded.
