SAPP: Anwar's statement signifies progress in opposition co-operation

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) welcomes the offer by PKR de facto leader, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to Sabah-based opposition parties to contest some of the seats that were contested by PKR in previous general elections with a view to achieve a one to one fight against the BN in the coming 13th general elections.

"On the part of SAPP, we will reciprocate such good will and understanding with adjustments to SAPP's preparations for the elections, which is widely expected to be in June," said its president, Datuk Yong Teck Lee.

Bermula dengan pembayaran wang RM 100 untuk setiap pelajar sekolah yang telah selesai dilangsungkan, kini BN menggerakkan insentif seterusnya pula, Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) dengan nilai RM 500 kepada penerima yang layak.

TAWAU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) reiterated Monday its stand of not joining fellow opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) but will continue co-operating with the latter as a colleague.

Its advisor, Datuk Mohd Noor Mansur, said he is only repeating what party President Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee had said previously - that SAPP and PR can be friends but need not be married.

 

"We must remember that such situation had happened before during the Berjaya era when Usno and PBS united and defeated the Berjaya Government at that time," he said, in conjunction with the "SAPP Jelajah" programme to strengthen party machinery.

Lim, the DAP adviser, is worried that the quarrel between the party’s state branch and SAPP is distracting them from the real challenge in the 13th general election that could be called by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak any time now.

SAPP welcomes Anwar on "PR-SAPP can negotiate"

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) welcomes Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim's land mark statement that Pakatan can negotiate with SAPP and SAPP need not join the Pakatan Rakyat in achieving a one to one fight against the BN.

As de facto leader of PKR and PR, Anwar has re-set the button on the relationship between SAPP and Pakatan to the same positive footing that SAPP had with Pakatan in 2008.

SAPP still waiting

1. In May 23,2011 SAPP has formed a committee appointed by the Supreme Council headed by myself (Dullie Hj. Marie) to hold discussion with the three panel members from DAP.

2. The formation of this committee was prompted after DAP had in the newspapers called on SAPP to form our committee and Jimmy Wong spoke directly to our President.

3. To reciprocate, my President accepted the invitation with ten other Supreme Councils for the dinner in conjunction with Harvest Festival hosted by DAP at Putera Ballroom, Bukit Padang on 27 May 2011. It was made as a gesture of goodwill so that the relationship between SAPP and DAP can be improved. With the understanding the oppositions will forge a cordial relationship.

A leaked US embassy cable has lent credence to Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim's claim that a group of Sabah and Sarawak politicians had planned to defect from the BN on Sept 16, 2008, over the marginalisation of the two states.

An entry in the cable, posted by Wikileaks, Sabah former Chief Minister Salleh Said Keruak had told US embassy officials that potentially more than half of the 25 Sabah MPs were ready to abandon the BN, following the precedent set by the SAPP.

BROWSING through Malaysia’s Internet news portal and blogs alike, there is a sense of confusion and panicking in UMNO camp, very serious one no less crucial than when the Malay had two UMNOs.

UMNO leaders have been trying hard to entice PAS leaders to rejoin BN some were tempted no doubt. But a leader like Tok Guru knows what it is like in UMNO’s fold.

His rock solid stand surely tough to crack, his steadfast is something that our leaders can emulate; a no u-turn to BN is a great example. 

Imported Political Culture a cause for concern: SPDP

Pekan: The emergence of “irresponsible political culture” now practiced by the opposition in the State is a cause for concern, especially among the down-to-earth rural folk, Sarawak Democratic Progressive Party (SPDP) President Datuk Sri William Mawan said.

This was very much felt in the recent April 16 state election when “opposition parties from outside the State promoting it just to win votes and the election”.

DAP is the weakest link in the Pakatan Rakyat

The weakest link in the Pakatan Rakyat is now the DAP. Swollen-headed by its success in Sarawak, it looks well on the way of becoming what former premier Mahathir Mohamad had warned about - that the DAP is a Chinese chauvinist party. Anyone that questions it is trying to "narrow our vision to such a parochial outlook is to stoop to the same kind of politics practised by the BN!"

Sounds familiar? Yes, those were tactic employed by PKR renegades Zaid Ibrahim, John Soh and Salehuddin Hashim. Anything to do with PKR is Umno and BN-linked and should therefore be avoided. Strange that in the end, it was the ex-PKR trio that moved over to the BN side of the divide. And with the DAP in Sarawak befriending them, it was not surprising that state chief Wong Ho Leng echoed words of a similar script.

Incompetent PKR; Bungling Pakatan

There is something seriously wrong with PKR.

The leaders of PKR are either the ultimate optimists or they are simply, born liars. How can anyone in PKR claim to have led a good campaign in Sarawak? They have just been slaughtered even with the changing political climate in Malaysia and yet they are pleased having ‘made in-roads’ into Sarawak and tripling their representation in the Dewan Negeri; increase from 1 to 3 seats. How laughable.

Result a wake-up call for Opposition

KOTA KINABALU: The Sarawak election result is a wake-up call for the bickering Opposition parties in Sabah.

Sabah DAP secretary dr edwin bosi said the dismal performance of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Sarawak National Party (SNAP) was a costly lesson that the Sabah Opposition should learn from and avoid.

PKR won only three out of the 49 seats it contested while SNAP had only one candidate who managed to retain his deposit.
