Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) is open to the idea of a common opposition platform but is also wary of PKR.
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) is treading carefully over calls to forge a common opposition front against the Barisan Nasional coalition in the next general election.
In a statement issued here this week, SAPP information chief Chong Pit Fah said the party is waiting for the Pakatan Rakyat central leadership to negotiate seat allocation among the opposition parties in Sabah.
Chong was responding to a statement by Sabah DAP secretary, Edwin Bosi, calling for closer cooperation between opposition parties in Sabah to avoid the disagreements that scuppered chances of a better showing by the Pakatn coalition in the Sarawak state elections last week.
Bosi, had on Monday, said the opposition party had established a three-member negotiation panel headed by its deputy chairman, Fred Fung which had started talking to fellow coalition members PAS and PKR.
He said the panel had also made contact with SAPP to talk about a common strategy against Umno and the BN.
Chong said the local opposition party is aware that Sabah DAP had formed a negotiation team to discuss seat distribution among the opposition parties but added no discussions had taken place as yet.
“This panel was constituted in January this year… (but) has DAP actually negotiated with PKR and PAS in Sabah?” he asked.
While confirming that Fung had spoken about this to him and party president, Yong Teck Lee, Chong said they are currently still waiting for Fung to clarify the mandate of the DAP panel within the coalition.
“Do they have to refer to higher ups? Is there a counterpart team in PKR and PAS to negotiate with?”
Batu Sapi fiasco
The local opposition party is wary of a recurrence of what the coalition faced in the Sarawak election where Pakatan member SNAP agreed with DAP and PAS on the seats but failed to have an agreement with PKR who contested all the seats that DAP and PAS did not contest.
Chong said also fresh in the party’s memory is the fiasco in October last year during the Batu Sapi by-election which saw the party coming to an agreement with PKR who claimed they represented the opposition front only to find that Sabah DAP was not in agreement.
“PKR said they represented Pakatan because they have been given the mandate to negotiate with SAPP.
“This was because PKR was chosen to contest the Batu Sapi by-election.
“Unfortunately, immediately after the meeting, the then Sabah DAP chief Dr Hiew King Cheu denied that the meeting was valid.
“He insulted both delegations by calling the meeting mere coffee shop talk.
“To make matters worse Pakatan campaigners from Sabah and West Malaysia ferociously attacked SAPP instead of BN.
“This was in spite of the mutual agreement not to criticize each other and to campaign against BN,” he recalled.
Chong also claimed that the party even had proof that a DAP leader had colluded with Umno in the Batu Sapi election to ensure SAPP lost.
“It looked like DAP was competing instead of co-operating with SAPP to topple BN.
“We hope these sad episodes will not be repeated by the new leadership in Sabah DAP,” he said.
SAPP giving advice to DAP?
ReplyDeleteSAPP wtf
ReplyDeleteit will always be repeated as all political parties will give priority to their own party interest rather than their party agenda or goals..
ReplyDeletePilihan rakyat akan terjawab melalui undi
ReplyDeletesetiap parti ada agenda mereka tersendiri.
ReplyDeleteDAP dan SAPP memang mengutamakan rakyat Cina. Apa pun kita tunggu apa-apa saja yang berlaku nanti.
ReplyDeleteSAPP educating DAP? are u serious? SAPP u can pack your bags and send Yong teck lee to anti-corruption agency
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.........nice joke !!
ReplyDeleteYou have got to be kidding me, SAPP giving advice to DAP?! LOL. I sense something fishy.
ReplyDeleteDAP is just a party rubbish in Sabah. DAP is RACIST party and no difference like UMNO.
ReplyDeleteSabah does not need such party from semenanjung.
Why DAP so hate SAPP eventhough they are at the same boat as opposition?
ReplyDeleteI can see that DAP very insecure of their position after SAPP pulled out from BN.
We can see DAP stooges here as above. LOL
DAP Sabah's lot are all opportunists, believe it or not, it is very true.
ReplyDeleteDAP's Jimmy Wong, Hiew Kin cheu YBs are rejects from SAPP. So SAPP need to advise these dogs to behave.
ReplyDeleteDAP was rejected by the people of Sabah for the past 30 years. What had DAP done to assist the poor Sabahans for the past 30 years? NOTHING!
ReplyDeleteyess keep on arguing with each other & we will see the chinese vote in the future GE will split into two...guess who will prevail then?
ReplyDeleteDAP is RACIST! If it's true, then I hate DAP! I'm a chinese and come with a multi race family. Are you trying to make me to hate my own family? NO YOU DON'T! Get lost you WM People! For the past 30 years, see how the W. Malaysian think of E. Malaysia... Think back yourself!
ReplyDeleteIn the coming GE13, all the party from W.Msia MUST BE OUT from Sabah.
ReplyDeleteBye bye umno, pkr, dap and gerakan!
DAP want to expand their LIM Father and Son Empire to Sabah with their Trojan Horses. Further colonise Sabahan.
ReplyDeleteSabah DAP needs to learn from Sarawak DAP.
ReplyDeleteBut SAPP is not in the position to offer advice to DAP.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think SApp is not offering advice but reminding them the dap not to repeat their trojan thing again.
ReplyDeleteDAP is really a trojan horse in Sabah. Beware Sabahan!
ReplyDeletewalaupn apapun permainan mereka. rakyat tau mana yang terbaik.
ReplyDeleteDAP in Sabah need to dissolve and merge into SAPP for the opposition to win...if not, we are left with second grade but trojan horses of BN lurking to go for the kill...hit and run...Umno Bn will again pay these Dap fellows to hit hard not against bn but Sapp to make BN win...a deja vu of batu sapi
ReplyDeleteAgreed with you, truth. DAP should close shop in Sabah with immediate effect.
ReplyDeleteWhat do they WM parties care about you Sabahans. Election time come, they will bullshit all they can to get you to vote them but after elections, they will go back to WM like nobody's business and carry on with their work in KL.
ReplyDeleteWhat is SAPP doing? All SAPP is saying is it need to be responsible. Can one marry a man that is already beating his two other wifes? A house that do not know who is the head. An agreement for engagement objected as coffee shop talk. Can negotiation be honored? While the partners continue mooting an affair. After spitting out SNAP they are going back to their vomit.
ReplyDeleteSAPP is not offering advice. That is not Sabahan. All it is syaing is "you sort out your own house and tell us what you really are? What is your direction?" If not SAPP rather stick to its principle. Win or Loose.
ReplyDeleteThey are accusing anyone not in PR as prostitute. That is accuciation. SAPP do not have to become prostitute just because of sneer. Win or Loose.
A Quote:
"Without us you are nothing. Without you we are still here." Better to keep the principle.
PR say that if you are not with PR you are pro BN. BN say if you are not BN you are pro PR. That is two party one system. Sabahan is not allowed to speak up for follow the orders of PR. That is as equalt to colonization not partnership not even team hirachy.
ReplyDeleteBergantunglah sama ada SAPP akan terima pelawaan daripada DAP ataupun tidak.
