KOTA KINABALU: SAPP's Luyang Assemblywoman Melanie Chia Chui Ket will offer to defend her seat if she is selected again by the party's top brass.
"As the State Assemblywoman for Luyang, I am duty bound to offer myself to be of service lf I am selected by my party.
"Of course, this is an era for young people. We wish to have more young people who can emerge to serve the State. This is what SAPP has been doing all this while. We are nurturing young political workers, who have the potential to lead, to get them ready to serve the people.
"But being the incumbent, I would still offer myself if the party supports my candidacy for this coming general election," she told reporters after a press conference on the Foh Sang Chinese New Year celebration.
Chia, a party vice-president, conceded that this time around, it would be a tough fight for her in Luyang, given its “hot seat" status.
"lt seems everybody is eyeing Luyang, including DAP. It has always been my motto to do my best to serve the people. I know it is not going to be an easy election but I will still try my best to defend my seat.”
Answering a question, Chia said SAPP had formed a seat negotiation committee last year.
"The committee has been there since last year. We have been waiting for the moment to talk to talk but until today, they are not talking. We want to talk but each time... I would say the ball had been in their (DAP's) court.
"We heard they (DAP) want the Luyang seat. If we want to work together, we have to talk, right?" she said.
According to Chia, SAPP's Seat Negotiation Committee had had many sessions of negotiation with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and not Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
"In Sabah, the situation is different. We can't be talking to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as a coalition because they are all masing-masing(individually). So we have to talk to the individual member parties, even talking to Pas if we need to.
"The problem of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in Sabah is such that the seats are divided among the three component parties of Pakatan Rakyar (PR). DAP is getting its seats and PKR has its seats allocated and from there, they will negotiate with us (SAPP). We have been talking with PKR," she said.
Asked whether SAPP would discuss the matter with DAP Advisor, Lim Kit Siang, Chia said: "lt's not for me to say. Ask my President (Datuk Yong Teck Lee). Of course, as I said, negotiation is on, the door is always open."

Adakah rakyat Sabah masih boleh mempercayai parti SAPP? Harap mereka akan mengundi dengan bijak.
ReplyDeleteDon't have the answer yet. Have to wait the 13th GE results.
DeleteNo doubt the Luyang seat is the most attractive to all candidates. But its up to the party who they appoint to represent their party.
DeleteI agree. SAPP has shown their true colours.
DeleteAt least the people know already..
DeleteBetul tu..
DeleteSAPP dulu menang pun atas tiket BN, kini tanpa BN pasti laluan SAPP makin sukar.
ReplyDeleteThat does make sense. Moreover, YT lost in Batu Sapi.
DeleteJust forget about DAP Sabah... I just don't see any of their socalled Sabah reps have good track records of serving but talk nonsense... Just too bad! Only when I see LGE or TP type of leadership available here, my vote won't go to them for sure....
ReplyDeleteAgree. More complaints and condemns rather than suggestions to improve or to solve the problems.
DeleteDAP Sabah is still weak compared to their Penang counter parts. The local DAP candidates are nothing like LGE.
Delete"The problem of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in Sabah is such that the seats are divided among the three component parties of Pakatan Rakyar (PR). DAP is getting its seats and PKR has its seats allocated and from there, they will negotiate with us (SAPP). We have been talking with PKR," she said.
ReplyDelete-clearly from the above statement that SAPP is unsatisfied with the seat allocation among the PR thus revealing there are a clear division within the pact pertaining this matter. How do you expect PR to gain the initiative if they are still squabbling for seats?
This will lead BN/UMNO to once again win.
DeleteAll thanks to the greedy opposition who refuse to tolerate with each other. So much for cooperation.
Deletesikap pentingkan diri menyebabkan pembangkang sukar bekerjasama dikalangan mereka.
DeleteThe SAPP Public relation team really did "a good job" by revealing the crack within the PR by allowing such damaging statement to be release to the netizens.
ReplyDeleteThis will further fuel more speculation with regards to the solidarity among PR pact.
In an ironic way, it seems that the SAPP is trying to sink their own ship.
ReplyDeletePoliticians all over the world, especially countries with democratic institutions and conventions, are the targets of criticisms - some correctly but many are mostly unfair criticisms.
ReplyDeleteThe responsibility of Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders towards listening to problems faced by the people and efforts to resolve them is not seasonal but rather a continuous process said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. Musa assured that the people of Sabah will continue supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN) to ensure a huge victory for BN in the coming 13th General Election.
ReplyDeleteBukan hanya bila p/raya semakin hampair baru rajin nak turun padang.
DeleteBiasalah, memang selalu begini, time mau dekat pilihan raya macam2 janji diberikan.
DeleteLook at the picture above.....
ReplyDeleteWhere about is N17 Luyang SPR refer to??
Very misleading !!!
This is an era for young people to lead. It their turn now.
ReplyDeleteWho the cap fit, let him wear it!
ReplyDeleteLet’s wait and see till GE 13 result.
ReplyDeleteWe need more suggestions to improve Sabah and to solve problems the people of Sabah are facing.
ReplyDeleteThe people should vote wisely.
ReplyDeleteLet’s pray for the best in Sabah this year.
ReplyDeletePuan Melanie mungkin baik ambil tindakan jika dianugerah 'PGDK' berpangkat Datuk Seri terus bersara kali ni lah!
Boleh tak puan?Hidup mewah lumayan tu selama berkhidmat untuk Luyang.
Bagilah peluang MCA dan BN!!!
I don't think SAPP will let others to steal that seat.
Siapa tahu, bukan?
ReplyDeleteChinese community is the majority of Luyang's population. I think it is best to re-construct the whole thing. Nothing is impossible.
ReplyDeleteLet the people to vote who they want.
ReplyDeleteSAPP menghadapi saingan kuat juga.
ReplyDeleteRakyat pasti memilih yang terbaik untuk Luyang.
ReplyDeleteChinese or Malay community has no different, just vote wisely for better tomorrow.
