KOTA KINABALU: State Reform Party (STAR) has taken exception to the statement by PBS’ Information Chief Datuk Johnny Mositun who said Datuk Dr. Jefrrey Kitingan and STAR have been making unrealistic promises to fish for support.
STAR Deputy Chairman, Daniel John Jambun, said here today that there is a fundamental difference between the PBS mentality and the vision of STAR.
“PBS thinks of Sabah as one of the 13 states while STAR thinks of Sabah and Sarawak as the Borneo states under the Borneo Alliance pursuing the Borneo Agenda which is seeking rights and autonomy from the domination of Peninsular Malaysia,” he said. “Maybe PBS has forgotten that Malaysia was formed as a four-nation Federation and not a combination of 14 unitary states.”
“As such, I can understand why Mositun simply can’t fathom the simplicity of implementing the 7-point Borneo Agenda,” he added. “PBS can only think in terms of living under the dominion of UMNO and not reforming Sabah to have more freedom to take care of its own development.”
Two days ago Mositun made an attack on Jeffrey accusing the later of “deliberately playing on the people’s sensitivities and parochial sentiments. He takes an issue and turns it into an academic exercise because he knows such things have public appeal, just to keep himself in the limelight.”
Jambun asked if it is more realistic for PBS leaders to continue in BN and be traitors to the people of Sabah by playing the role of stooges to UMNO. “Is that all PBS can think of for the people?” he demanded. “Isn’t the Borneo Agenda a much higher and long-term vision which can take Sabah to new heights?”
“Of course we are fishing for support, but we are doing that by offering a new and better alternative unlike PBS which has no other offer other than continuing with the same old system which is robbing the people of their rights and future,” Jambun said. “Is Mositun saying that the people don’t deserve anything better than the sorry situation they are now?”
He also asked if Mositun is proud of the statement by his party President, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan that Sabah doesn’t need the opposition. “Is PBS now campaigning for a one-party system in Sabah like what they had in the communist countries?” he asked. “Has PBS lost its belief in the democratic system, or has Pairin simply gone senile?”
Jambun added that he can prove to Mositun that everything pledged in the 7-point Borneo Agenda is implementable and achievable when the Borneo Alliance takes over the state government. “Since this is a matter of public interest and involves Sabah’s future, I hereby would like to challenge Mositun to an open public debate on the issue,” he said. “As he in the government I leave him to name the venue, date, and time for the debate. And if Mositun is not confident of debating in English, I am perfectly happy to do it with him in Bahasa Malaysia.”
A debate would between 2 opposing parties would be a great idea, It will give chance to both sides to present their arguments. Pls Datuk Johnny take the challenge.
ReplyDeleteAdakah debate sebegini mencapai apa-apa matlamat yang memanfaatkan mana-mana pihak?

Deleteguntalow
Can't wait to see this debate between Jambun and Mositun, it will be a good opportunity for both sides to give their thoughts.
Deletecans of worm would be revealed if this debate materialised. Mositun must take the challenge otherwise stop talking shit.
ReplyDeleteReally the people of Sabah would like to know why Sabah became the 13th state instead of equal partner when Malaysia was formed. This debate is going to be very interesting if it ever happen.
ReplyDeleteThis will generate interest for all Sabahans if ever the debate is going to happen. Datuk Johnny should take up the challenge after all this is a democratic society for both parties to prove their points.
ReplyDeleteIts very interesting to see how the leader debating and their strategic plan to the state.
DeleteDebating on what is best for Sabah is not the only important issue but what best can be done in terms of action.
ReplyDeleteDebate and make a difference in Sabah.
ReplyDeleteThey should ponder on which produces the best idea and result for the people of Sabah.
ReplyDeleteSabahans should get ready for something interesting would come out of this.
ReplyDeleteLet’s wait and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know Datuk Johnny response to Jambun invitation to debate. Hopefully he will accept the challenge.
ReplyDeleteIts in the DE paper. Mositun decided to chicken out. This is a glaring example of a so-called leader running away from the truth. What a shame!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf he already decided not to accept the debate, then what to do? Let 13th GE become the judge.
DeleteAction mean more for Sabah. Talk and talk seems meaningless yet no productivity.
ReplyDeleteNATO = Meaningless.
ReplyDeleteSuggested topic of debate:
ReplyDeleteClearer understanding of the 20-Points and how it can benefits Sabah
All u lazy & useless natives only want to talk, talk & talk. Learn to work harder lah...
DeleteSaya mencadangkan satu PERBINCANGAN TERBUKA ..
ReplyDeleteinstead of debate, why not discuss on what best for Sabah??
ReplyDeleteDebating just want to blame other people and pointing finger to people mistake. Each of the debater will show up that he/she the best leader.
ReplyDeletetunggu dan lihat sajalah..sebaiknya semua pihak menunpukan perhatian terhadap kepentingan rakyat.
ReplyDeleteDare Mositun take the challenge for a debate after this?
ReplyDeleteGOOD POINT ABOUT DISCUSSION INSTEAD OF DEBATE
ReplyDeleteWhen you "debate" you want to win points and that does not encourage the other side to see your point as he will also want to win on his point.
Debate is only useful if it is televised so everyone can be the judge.
THE BEST DEBATE IS ABOUT HOW WE CAN TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY BY TAKING SABAH OUT OF MALAYSIA!
ReplyDeleteSabah seceding from Malaysia is not as easy as you think. Don't be naive.
