KOTA KINABALU - STAR Sabah will commemorate the 49th anniversary of Sabah independence on August 31, 2012.
Its deputy chairman Dr Nicholas James Guntobon said the party would kick off the celebration with a convoy of vehicles from Tambunan at 7.30am to Keningau town, where a parade will be held at the town padang about one hour later.
He said the commemoration will end with a luncheon cum Hari Raya open house at the Restoran Pelancongan Pedalaman, Keningau at 12 noon, he said in a statement yesterday.
Dr Guntobon said although the commemoration will be held, it can be said that the festivities will be without joy if the people look at the sad state of affairs inflicted upon Sabah since its independence in 1963.
However, he said it is important the people of Sabah are informed and enlightened on the actual history of Sabah and stop the twisting of the facts of history by certain leaders without consideration of the real and inconvenient truth that Sabah gained its independence on 31 August 1963.
“Independence Day of a nation is one of the most important and celebrated event. Rightly, the Sabah government should celebrate Sabah Independence Day and should not bow to the imposition of the celebration of the 55th year of Malayan Independence which has no relevance or meaning for Sabahans,” he asserted.
“Despite all the recent misgivings and public outcry on the non-recognition of Sabah Independence Day, it is sad that the Sabah government has failed to listen to the voice of the people and has failed to take any positive action to commemorate or recognize Sabah Independence Day this 31st August,” he added.
Dr Guntobon said as a responsible organization and political party, STAR Sabah has no alternative not only to initiate the several planned events to commemorate Sabah Independence Day this 31st August but also to take an affirmative step to put things right regarding Sabah Independence and stop the nonsense of twisting the facts of history.
STAR Sabah take the opportunity to invite all Malaysians to attend the Independence commemoration events and share in the commemoration of this year’s Sabah Independence, he said.
Yes. Go organic, STAR. Long sickened by BN's crap.
ReplyDeleteCrap is good organic fertilizer if you want to go organic.
DeletePeople's crap? Not even human to think that.
DeleteOrganically hydroponic is the next level.
Go for sustainable agriculture.
DeleteAh huh, and stop buying outside stuffs.
DeleteYes. We want organic truths. Down the crap
ReplyDeleteExpect truth from politicians? Haha
DeleteWell whatever. Organic is healthy though.
DeleteHappy Independence for Malaysia tomorrow in 31st August.
ReplyDeleteSelamat bercuti.
DeleteI love holiday. It is more important.
DeleteHappy independence to Malaya only la.
DeleteTak kisah 55 tahun ataupun 49 tahun, yang penting cuti.
ReplyDeleteSelamat menyambut hari merdeka
Deletesemoga kemerdekaan ini akan dihayati dengan sebaiknya.
DeleteSelamat menyambut hari kemerdekaan kepada semua warga malaya.
DeleteStar under pimpinan JK akan panas tahun ni saja lepas PRU13, akan mulai sejuk.
ReplyDeleteSuit yourself. We have our flasks ready. Possibly you'll end up not unlike the belalang asking the ant for crumbs
DeleteHow many corner fights the oppositions want to make? It is an advantage for BN.
Deletelepas PRu13, senyap saja tu Star...
DeleteI doubt STAR intention after all.
DeleteEntering Holiday Mode.
ReplyDeleteHappy Merdeka to all since Sabah is currently still with Malaysia, so happy merdeka to Sabah & Sarawak also.
ReplyDeleteHopefully there will be something good happen tomorrow for Sabah and Sarawak.
ReplyDeletewhat are you mean by that? is there something will happen?
DeleteWhat does Independence Day means to us?
ReplyDeletea public holiday...
Deletemeans all malaysian come together as one
Deleteisilah kemerdekaan dengan penuh bermakna dan patriotik.
ReplyDeletelupakan fahaman politik seketika dan sambutlah kemerdekaan.
ReplyDeletetarikh kemerdekaan pun dipolitikkan macamana?
Deleteberabis lah Star mahu daftar ahli baru tu nanti kan...
ReplyDeletekalau Star vs SAPP, siapa menang?
ReplyDeleteSusahlah kalau asyik mempersoalkan sesuatu hal, tak pasal-pasal porak peranda jadinya.
ReplyDeleteApapun, selamat menyambut hari merdekan.
Deletedespite of all the drama all malaysian still gather together to celebrate National Day.
ReplyDeleteyes it is because we believe in unity
