Army ready for combat
LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Army is 'combat ready' in defending the country's sovereignty and interests at all times.
Its chief, General Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin, said every formation and team in the army should strive to improve its readiness in the respective areas of responsibility.
"All formations and units should streamline their contingency plans to face any eventuality.
"In this regard, the army will provide all formations and units with various equipment and weapons based on current financial allocation and needs," he said when speaking at the 80th anniversary celebration of the Malaysian Army here today.
He said the Army would continue to be developed under its 'Army 2 10 Plus 10' strategy, as well as the 'Fourth Dimension of the Malaysian Armed Forces' (4D MAF), aimed at making the security forces versatile in the various spectra of war.
"The 'Army 2 10 Plus 10' strategy has outlined the direction and strategic development of the army as a forceful, credible, deployable and versatile team.
"The 4D MAF, introduced in 2008, is a transformation aimed at empowering the army as an integrated force," added Zulkifli
.
He said the Malaysian Army would be embarking on a massive maintenance exercise under the 'Army Care' programme to ensure better quality of life for the men and their families at the camps.
"This includes the construction of new camps and family houses nationwide. The better living environment is aimed at uplifting the morale of every member of the army to serve the nation," he said.

The Philippines Embassy has sent a team to Lahad Datu to assist Filipinos affected by the Sulu Sultanate Army’s clash with Malaysian security forces.
ReplyDeleteIts ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said in a statement yesterday that the Embassy had informed Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar thathis team was there on a humanitarian and consular mission.
ReplyDelete“We would also like to extend consular assistance to the wounded and other affected nationals, and have access to them once practicable,” said Malaya.
ReplyDeleteMalaya and Philippines Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Jose S. Brillantes met with Ismail in Lahad Datu yesterday morning.
ReplyDeleteThe Embassy team would see how it could further work with local authorities to assist its nationals affected by the clash. Brillantes was sent by Manila on Feb 25 to assist the Embassy handle the situation.
ReplyDeleteMalaya advised the Filipino-Malaysian community in Lahad Datu, Semporna and Kunak to remain calm and abide by the guidelines issued by the local authorities.
ReplyDelete“We feel and understand the anxieties felt by many of you at these difficult times. The embassy will work with concerned authorities to ensure your safety and well-being.
ReplyDelete“This is not the time to undertake any action that might be misunderstood by some parties,” he added.
ReplyDeletehampir kesemuanya dibunuh atas taktik serang hendap
Mahakuttah A. Kiram pada tahun 1986.
