TAWAU: Incumbent Tawau member of parliament Datuk Chua Soon Bui said Tawau Umno is playing a “shadow movie” and rubbished the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Tawau Umno’s publicized statement that about 500 Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) members in Tawau left the party to join Umno as a desperate propaganda.
“I regretted to see BN Tawau had gone all out to the extent of using national government media to put out such news all over the country, including RTM, TV3, Malaysian Insider and others to discredit SAPP, especially in Tawau,” she said yesterday.
Chua said she was very amazed BN-Umno Apas candidate Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, BN-PBS candidate for parliament, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching and BN-PBS candidate for Sri Tanjung, Fung Len Fui would stoop so low and willing to do extensive political assassination on SAPP Tawau by spinning the facts to mislead the people of Tawau.
Chua said she was utterly disappointed that SAPP Tawau was the main target for unfair, unjust campaign by BN Tawau using government media to sabotage the opposition.
“How could the people expect a free, fair, just and democratic election when the leaders cannot be truthful to the people? But the people of Tawau are wise enough to judge such dirty tactic,” she said.
“You can cheat some of the people all of the time, or all the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time,” she said.
She said it was a common political gimmick as the family of former SAPP Tawau Zone vice chairman Mohammad @ Awang Dahok had been inactive for about two years and waited for this moment to sabotage the image of SAPP for personal gains.
Chua said some of their members had informed that they would be paid to stage the exit but chose to stay with the party for the struggle of the people.
She challenged Mohammad, who is the brother of SAPP candidate for Apas, Tahir Dahu, to produce his so-called 500 SAPP members of the so-called 11 branches.
Chua regretted to see Mohammad had gone all out to assassinate his own brother Tahir’s political career and campaign and urged him to resolve his family affair amicably.
She urged the election process to be conducted in a democratic, fair and just manner and she would not hesitate to report to the police if Tawau SAPP was being victimized continuously.
