Natassia quits PKR after Ansari

KOTA KINABALU: PKR National Youth Exco from Sabah, Dr Natassia Sarah has quit the party today, soon after her soon-to-be father in law, Ansari Hj Abdullah did the same today.

Dr Natassia handed over her resignation letter to its youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, at the Keadilan 9th National Congress, at MBPJ Hall, in Petaling Jaya, today.

“De Facto leader of PKR (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has destroyed my faith on his platform of principles,” she wrote in her Facebook posting later.

Ansari, a veteran politician is now under suspension for acting against the party.

The PKR Tuaran chief in a Facebook post noted that he had decided to quit politics much earlier, but out of respect to the requests from friends, withheld the announcement until today.

“I have lost faith in the Party’s leadership. I am now suspended as a member without any time period. I did not receive a ‘show cause letter’. So much for justice and due process,” he added.

Ansari (photo) has been with PKR for the last 14 and was at one time the State PKR chief, but he fell out of favour when PKR courted former Tuaran MP, Datuk Wilfred Bumburing.

With Bumburing in the equation, Ansari knew chances of him being a candidate in the general election would be tougher; in fact Ansari was only offered the Sulaman state seat, it was learnt.

Apparently, he wanted Tuaran or Tamparuli instead, but with Bumburing standing firm, Ansari knew his PKR days were numbered.

After he found himself not among the PKR candidates, Ansari did the unthinkable; he fielded his daughter, also a PKR wanita leader, as an independent in Tuaran.

That ultimately earned him a suspension.

In his brief Facebook statement, Ansari cited the inaugural speech of 1st Caliph Abu Bakr to express his dissatisfaction towards the conduct of PKR central leadership.

“Oh people, I have been entrusted with authority over you, but I am not the best of you. Help me if I am right and correct me when I am wrong.’ (1st Caliph Abu Bakr’s inaugural speech)

“2nd Caliph Umar b al-Khattab also asked the people, at his inaugural speech to ‘rectify any aberration’ they might see in him.

“Mu’aradah cannot exist without hurriyat al-ra’y (freedom of expression to criticise and monitor).

“I criticised the leadership since they were wrong in allowing 2/3 of the seats in Sabah to be contested under Parti KEADILAN’s symbol by non-members in the form of APS (Angkatan Perpaduan Sabah) and PPPS (Pertubuhan Pakatan Perpaduan Sabah),” he explained.

He went on to note that both APS and PPPS lost in all the parliamentary seats they contested and each won a state seat (Tamparuli & Klias).

Ansari also thanked all those who have supported and assisted him all these while during his days in PKR.

He did not indicate what he would be doing next in politics, but had previously stated he would consider forming his own party.
