Sabah’s Ansari quits PKR

Tuaran PKR chief Ansari Abdullah is deeply disappointed that the party did not follow the “due process” in suspending him.

KOTA KINABALU: Suspended PKR Tuaran chief Ansari Abdullah today announced he has resigned from the party which he joined 14 years ago.

In a brief statement posted on his Facebook this morning, he noted that he had decided to quit politics much earlier, but out of respect to the requests from friends, he withheld the announcement until today.

“I have lost faith in the party’s leadership. I am now suspended as a member without any time period. I did not receive a ‘show cause letter’. So much for justice and due process,” he added.

“I criticised the leadership since they were wrong in allowing 2/3 of the seats in Sabah to be contested under Parti Keadilan’s (PKR) symbol by non-members in the form of APS (Angkatan Perpaduan Sabah) and PPPS (Pertubuhan Pakatan Perpaduan Sabah),” he explained.

He went on to note that both APS and PPPS lost in all the parliamentary seats they contested and each won a state seat (Tamparuli and Klias).

Ansari, a practising lawyer, has also had a troubled relationship with other PKR members and leaders in the past.

In the run-up to this month’s elections on May 5, Ansari made a preemptive attempt the day after the dissolution of Parliament to push through the seven divisions’ list of candidates which included himself for the Tuaran constituency.

When his ‘proposal’ was shot down, he accused Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim of not being sincere in wanting to return political autonomy to Sabah when PKR rejected a move by him to nominate seven candidates to contest for PKR.

He said the rejection of three-quarters of the candidates proposed by the seven divisions in the Sabah west coast north zone, showed that the party’s headquarters was adamant about maintaining control of the state from Kuala Lumpur.

  1. THERE WE HAVE IT! NO OKR SUPPORT FOR REAL SABAH SARAWAK A.U.T.O.N.O.M.Y!

MALAYAN PKR & ANWAR (LEAST OF ALL UMNO) DO NOT WANT SABAH OR SARAWAK AUTONOMY!

SARAWAK PKR went very quiet on this fundamental issue.

The Tunku and his cabinet objected to the British insistance that safeguards be built into the new Constitution.

But how did they get around that conundrum?

They NEVER wrote a new "constitution" as agreed but substituted the Malayan Constitution as the "Malaysian Constitution" by amendment and annexing Sabah Sarawak "rights" to their constitution exactly like they annexed our countries.

This was a real con job. That is why they could so easily seize Sabah Sarawak oilfields.

The 18/20 Points said we control our finances and resources.

The Malayan schemers did not want this protection in the constitution.

Not all the 18/20 Points were incorporated in the Malayan/M'sian Constitution... only those Preserving primacy of King and UMNO racial supremacy.Basically imposing their authority on us.

The Sarawak Sovereignty Movement was formed recently in response to the 50 years of abuse of our mutually shared rights in the 18/20 Points.

GE13: Movement wants full autonomy for Sarawak

KUCHING: A civil movement is clamouring for Sarawak to be given full autonomy.

The movement was officially launched yesterday, called the Sarawak Sovereignty Movement (SSM). Its spokesman Datuk Morshidi Abdul Rahman said the people had had enough of the lop-sided development between the peninsula and Sarawak, and that something needed to be done about it.

“We are a civil movement and apolitical. We are not militants or extremists. Sarawak is one of the partners that form Malaysia.

“ The others are Malaya and Sabah. We just want equality of all Sarawakians regardless of their races,” he said here yesterday.

SSM was formed about a month ago with the objectives to affirm the sovereignty of Sarawak as a territorial and constitutional entity with power to make laws, collect taxes and the right to own its natural resources within the area of the continental shelf being the sea bed and its subsoil which lies beneath the high seas contiguous to the territorial waters of the state, as defined under Section 2 of the Sarawak (Alternation of Boundaries) Order in Council.

The movement also seeks to restore Sarawak’s identity and dignity as one of three nations from its relegation to being one of the 13 states within Malaysia, as well as to demand full autonomy within the constitutional framework of Malaysia.

“We are going to have a petition to be signed by Sarawakians for the review of the Malaysia Agreement which had been slowly violated over the years since the formation of Malaysia,” said Morshidi.

During SSM’s launching and logo unveiling ceremony yesterday, it also revealed a schedule of demand for full autonomy of the state.

Among the demands were Sarawak to have full control over its natural resources; each family in the state to have free allocation of certain hectares of land, and free education.

“The estimated timeline we drafted out is for the state’s sovereignty and principle of full autonomy of the state to be recognised by Sept 16 this year, and the Royal Commission to be appointed on the same date.

“After that is the sealing of Sarawak Autonomy Agreement on Sept 16 next year. If all goes according to plan then Sarawak’s autonomy would be fully implemented by Sept 16, 2015,” said Morshidi.
