KOTA KINABALU - Sabahan born entrepreneur Datuk Dr Julie Yapp may have created history for being the first and only person in the world to receive the honorary title of “The Most Influential Leader in the Business World 2013”.
She received the award from Wu Guixian, the Vice Premier of the State Council of China recently at the 7th Global Chinese Entrepreneur Forum hosted by the China Economic Trading Promotion Agency at Hyatt Hotel in Shenzhen, China.
The forum were attended by representatives from various countries and regions from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Angola, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, and to name few.
Back in Sabah, Julie shared: “I feel extremely happy and proud to be the first person in the world to receive this award which puts me in the spotlight.
“I wish to thank my family and friends for giving me the motivation which contributed to my success today,” she said.
“Thanks also to all my fellow Chinese from around the world, especially the great support and media coverage from the organizer, CCTV, Overseas Edition, China Enterprise News and China Trade News.”
The event is aimed to give due recognition to the unique contribution and innovation made by the outstanding Chinese politicians, scientists, celebrities, businessmen and the societies from all walks of life from this current era.
Overseas Chinese entrepreneurs from all over the has converged to the forum to foster interaction and cooperation with the leaders of China government, local government, investment and financing institutions, experts and scholars to promote friendship and trading partners.
The event was attended by some 500 representatives including from the China government, State Councils, renowned economists, media, local and overseas outstanding entrepreneurs.
