LDP Crisis: Police report lodged over 'office trespass'

KOTA KINABALU - A police report has been lodged against those individuals who allegedly tried to prevent LDP staff from entering its headquarters office on Tuesday.

LDP Secretary Loretto S. Padua Jr. said he had lodged the report and this was confirmed by a senior police officer at the Kota Kinabalu district police station, who said that police would go through the report.

In a statement, Loretto (photo) said that the police report was lodged as laws could have been broken such as criminal trespass, mischief and even wrongful confinement.

Describing them as serious offences, he said if such offences have been found to be committed then the individuals concerned must take responsibility of their action and face the consequences of the law, he said.

“I believe police investigation has commenced in respect of this matter and we are confident that the police will investigate it thoroughly and professionally without fear and favour.

“I would like to state that we do not recognize this group or the purported resolution that they have made.

“These are individuals who either have been sacked or suspended from their post and their membership in the Party. None of them carry with them the authority or power to make decision in respect of Party matters. By their actions, it only shows that these are desperate people taking desperate measure.

Loretto also said that the role and conduct of those allegedly involved, especially Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Datuk Chin Su Phin, is unbecoming of a state legislator and who happens to be a state Minister, and another who is a Senator.

On Tuesday, Loretto had claimed in a press statement that he was informed by the Executive Officer that a group of LDP members led by Chin, had installed padlocks on the grill of the entrance, to prevent the staff from entering the premises.
