KOTA KINABALU - The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) set up to investigate the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah will have its jurisdiction extended for another three months.
Its secretary, Datuk Saripuddin Kasim said the RCI which should end this Friday, would be extended until Dec 21 this year to complete investigations and its report.
“In line with Section 5 of the Commission of Enquiry Act 1960, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah has allowed for the extension of the RCI for another three months, starting Sept 21, to Dec 21,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.
The commission began sitting in January to investigate allegations that Malaysian citizenship was given to illegal immigrants in Sabah.
