9 Pakistanis nabbed in Sabah security zone

KOTA KINABALU - Eastern Sabah Security Command officers have detained nine Pakistani men suspected to be without valid travel documents in Kampung Air Hujung, Semporna.

Esscom commander Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun in a statement here today said that they were arrested in a special operation mounted at 7.30pm.

“Based on a tip-off, an Esscom team raided an unnumbered house in the village and arrested eight Pakistanis, the other was nabbed by the roadside near the house.

“They were brought to the Semporna police station and checks by the Immigration Department found seven of them did not have valid travel documents,” he said.

Semporna Immigration Department chief Habib Mohd Rafiee said the seven of them are aged from 23 to 41 years and that they have been in Sabah between eight months and one-and-a-half years.

He said the case had been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for due process, including deportation.
