‘Tun M fears he will also be dragged to court if opposition comes to power’

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call for the Prime Minister to resign before he ends up in the docks is a fear the former has should the opposition comes to power.

Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin said this in his blog late last night, adding that the country’s fourth Prime Minister believed he would be dragged to court apart from Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The former Information Minister said this warning should be seen as an attempt to keep both of them safe.

Zainuddin said this was the main reason Mahathir was asking Najib to step down, adding that by doing so it would give Barisan Nasional enough time to restore the public’s faith in the ruling coalition.

“Najib has to make a wise decision because even in this ‘worrying times’ he had put on a brave face during his interview with TV3.

“What was surprising was Najib’s sudden appearance on TV3, there was no prior announcement through the media especially when presenting such an important message to the people.”

The former Utusan Malaysia group editor said Najib’s appearance on TV was more to meet the call from within his party especially Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin and BN chief whip Tan Sri Shahrir Samad.

He said they wanted Najib to give a direct answer to Mahathir.

Zainuddin added that the present show of support for Najib may not be the reflection of the true situation.
