In a Facebook post by the victim, who goes by the username Nisha Daddygal, she claimed she was stopped by a few security guards, and was forced to borrow a towel and wrap it round before being granted permission to enter the public institution.
“The moment I reached the visitors gate there were few security guards who stopped me and said ‘you can’t go in because you’re wearing shorts’,” the Facebook post dated June 21 reads.
She added that her father was then asked to go the wards and borrow a towel from one of the patients for her to cover up.
“My father had to go to the wards and borrow a patient's towel and bring down for me to wrap and close my knees as the security guards said only then would they let me go in to visit the patients,” she said.
The security guards then told her that it was according to the instructions given by the Health Ministry.
This was the third such incident in recent weeks where women were denied entry into public places for supposedly wearing improper attire.
The first was on June 8 when a woman was denied entry into the Gombak Road Transport Department (JPJ) office for wearing a skirt above her knees and was forced to wear a sarong.
On Monday, two women, a journalist and another were forced to wear sarongs to enter the Selangor State Secretariat building.
