Sacked AG officer to file revelation in 'explosive' affidavit

Jessica Gurmeet Kaur and her family are expected to file a judicial review with an "explosive" affidavit on why the authorities are bent to terminate her work at the Attorney-General’s Chambers and revoke her permanent residency (PR).

Malaysia has been home to Jessica for more than 20 years before the sudden move, within a spate of days, that started with investigations by the authorities on her and former MACC adviser Rashpal Singh over the alleged leak of a purported charge sheet on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The judicial review will challenge her sacking, the summary cancellation of her PR status and alleged forced deportation from Malaysia.

"She will file an explosive affidavit, exposing why they are doing this," a source familiar with her said.

Jessica, is a Singapore citizen but with a permanent resident status. It is understood that she complained of being hunted and trailed by the authorities.

Last night it was reported that Jessica was suddenly terminated from her post in the AG Chambers.

Her status as a permanent resident has also been revoked.

Malaysiakini had to verify from three different sources over her predicament.

She was head of administration and finance for the special task force secretariat investigating the 1MDB saga and her termination includes her post in the secretariat as well as in the AG’s Chambers.

Jessica, Rashpal picked up on July 31

A source in the AG’s Chambers confirmed that Jessica’s contract with the chambers was terminated.

Another source, who also wanted to remain anonymous, questioned the deportation order.

The source, who knows Jessica, asked whether her removal would work in Malaysia's best interest or would make the government and Najib, in particular, look bad under these circumstances.

Jessica, along with Rashpal were picked up by the police late on the night of Friday, July 31, following an alleged leak of a charge sheet against Najib, which was reported in whistleblower site Sarawak Report.

The other person who was picked up by the police hours later, about 2am on Aug 1, was MACC prosecutor Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi.

Besides Jessica and Rashpal, seven MACC officers, including Ahmad Sazilee, are being investigated for the charge sheet leak.

MACC's special operations director Bahri Mohd Zin, who was also investigated by police, denied that the leak came from the MACC.

The special task force to investigate 1MDB was originally chaired by then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, who was suddenly removed from his post on July 27.

This action was immediately followed by the removal of Muhyiddin Yassin as deputy prime minister and Shafie Apdal as a minister in Najib's cabinet.

The inter-departmental team investigating 1MDB has since been disbanded by the new attorney-general, Mohamed Apandi Ali.
