KUALA LUMPUR - Almost 1.2 million applications for the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) had been rejected this year, said the Finance Ministry.

The majority (24 per cent) of those rejected came from applicants who earned more than RM2,000 a month.

Also rejected were applicants from households earnings more than RM4,000 a month (21 per cent), applicants listed as recipients of the book vouchers aid in 2016 (15 per cent), couples with existing or duplicate applications (10 per cent), and couples who submitted conflicting information with the National Registration Department (10 per cent).

"Another 20 per cent comprise those from other factors," said the ministry.
