Abdul Hadi also again pledged his support for Dr Mahathir should a no-confidence vote came to pass.
"We will support him even though we are in the opposition. This is for the importance of Islamic leadership," he told reporters in Terengganu on Friday (Feb 22).
A video clip of what Hadi said was uploaded on his Facebook page.
Hadi expressed concern that the PM's party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), would lose in the upcoming Semenyih by-election not because of PAS, but because of PKR and DAP.
"Don't blame us," he said.
Abdul Hadi and Dr Mahathir had a meeting last week, where PAS formally stated it would not support Umno in the Semenyih by-election.
On Sunday (Feb 17), Dr Mahathir explained that PAS would not support Umno in the Semenyih polls because the candidate this time was from Bersatu and not DAP.
Prior to that, a blogger had alleged that a plot was being hatched from within Pakatan against Dr Mahathir via a vote of no-confidence.
Mujahidin Zulkiffli claimed he first heard about the plot to oust Dr Mahathir a few weeks ago from "his sources".
However, Bersatu said it was confident that its Pakatan allies still backed Dr Mahathir, despite claims he had lost support from PKR and DAP.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said there was a firm commitment from all four parties in Pakatan – PKR, DAP, Bersatu and Parti Amanah Negara – on this. He added that he was not aware of any party losing confidence in Dr Mahathir.
For a vote of confidence to succeed in the Dewan Rakyat, it must have the support of at least 112 out of 222 MPs.
