‘Don’t politicise Tawau ISA arrests’

FMT

As the government comes under fire for using the soon-to-be abolished law to detain alleged terrorists, critics are told to let the police do their job.

PETALING JAYA: MCA today urged PAS and others not to politicise the recent arrest of 13 suspected terrorists in Tawau, Sabah, under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

‘Enlightened’ Jeffrey recalls ISA’s cruelty

Sabah's political son Jeffrey Kitingan wasn't a hardened criminal but it was a living-death under the 'not too cruel' ISA.

By Nilakrisna James

Jeffrey Kitingan is an enigma, not least because he is partly elusive, partly unpredictable and partly Houdini.
You can never really find him and when you do, he very quickly disappears.

As his friend and compatriot in a civil rights mission, I know him and yet I don’t and, as a friend, you tend to wonder if he would ever fully trust you.

‘New laws could be worse than ISA’

Luke Rintod

Is the repeal of the ISA 'window-dressing' for an embattled BN ahead of the general election?

KOTA KINABALU: Scepticisms abound in Sabah over the repeal of the much-condemned Internal Security Act (ISA).

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had announced on Sept 16 that the government would abolish the draconian law.

Perkasa mahu elemen ISA dikekalkan

Jamilah Kamarudin

Najib guna pemansuhan ISA popularkan dirinya

Saudara Pengarang,

Saya terpanggil mengulas kenyataan Perdana Menteri Dato’ Seri Najib Razak berhubung pengumuman beliau memansuhkan ISA baru baru ini dimana beliau sekali lagi membuat kenyataan susulan sepertimana yang terpampang di akhbar  tempatan keluaran Ahad yang bertajuk "Don’t claim false credit".

ISA abolition due to ineffectiveness as instrument of fear

KOTA KINABALU, Sep 17, 2011: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) President Datuk Yong Teck Lee said the announcement by the Prime Minister on the abolition of the Internal Security Act (ISA) is because it is no longer an effective instrument of fear.

He said the ISA abolition has got nothing to do with the BN government being suddenly enlightened on freedom for the people.

"It is shameful for BN leaders and ministers who now heap praises on the PM as though the PM or the BN government has only now awakened to the injustice of detention without trial allowed under the ISA.

Wikileaks: pressure on ISA

Wikileaks: Mounting pressure on ISA by BN-Umno government for its political ends and insurance policy for staying in power was abused in various forms.

ISA was implemented during insurgence period of Communists in Malaya but now has been used by Umno against their political rivals.

It is also being used to preempt the courts from charging culprits who collaborated and prominent political figures who are involved in the infamous Projek IC where hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants obtained their 'citizenship' and thus become Umno-BN's vote bank.
