"Suspended leader wants actions against Azmin and gang"

PKR Batu Kawan women leader chief Dr Joyce Lee Yueh Choo, exposed that Azmin Ali has been receiving lucrative "APs (approved permits) imported cars operational until today".

Can somebody shed some light on this? The implications for PKR and Pakatan are serious. PKR must explain this. Why has Azmin remain silent on this?

A PKR women leader has issued a challenge to the party top leadership to act against Azmin Ali for alleged misconduct.

GEORGE TOWN: A suspended local PKR women leader has challenged the party leadership to take disciplinary action against deputy president Azmin Ali and two others for alleged misconduct.

Batu Kawan division women wing chief Dr Joyce Lee Yueh Choo wants show-cause letters issued to Azmin, national party women chief Zuraida Kamaruddin and vice-president Mansor Othman for politicking against party interests.

“If the party leadership is fair, it should take action against the trio as well, not just a handful of us,” she told FMT.

She was commenting on her reply on March 8 to a show-cause letter issued by the party disciplinary committee chairman Dr Tan Kee Kwong on March 7.

Lee has been suspended indefinitely since March 10, pending a decision by the party leadership.
She was charged with allegedly condemning the PKR leadership and tarnishing the party image in social network, Facebook.

She questioned the party leaders’ lack of conviction to discipline Azmin for openly declaring to launch a “witch-hunt” to punish members who were against him during last year’s party polls.

She said that as deputy president, Azmin should have called on members to close ranks.

“What disciplinary action has been taken against Azmin for publicly damaging the party image, and demoralising and disuniting the members?” asked Lee, who was aligned to Zaid Ibrahim during the PKR No 2 contest.

She also said that stern action be taken against Zuraida for complaining to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commisson (MCMC) via her proxies to curb party members’ freedom of expression in Facebook.

Unethical action

In an e-mail reply on Dec 3, 2010 to Lee’s official complaint on the issue, PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim has also suggested that Zuraida be disciplined for her MCMC complaints.

Lee insisted that Zuraida should face action for allegedly instructing her agents to unethically “misplace” the minutes of many divisional women annual general meetings and also the nomination forms of candidates vying for a place in the central women leadership council.

Lee’s division has complained about it on Oct 14 last year to the party election steering committee head Molly Cheah and a copy of the complaint was also sent to secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.
She also pointed out that Zuraida had openly sabotaged a free and fair party election process.

She said that Zuraida has apparently lied to the media on being elected unopposed as national women leader on Oct 15, even though the nomination dateline was only the next day.

“The truth is four persons were qualified as candidates and eventually there was a three-cornered fight,” said Lee.

She recalled that Penang PKR chairman and Deputy Chief Minister I, Mansor Othman, had announced in January that PKR would clean up the party of all dissenting voices before the next general election.

“Even my photo was published in the press. Was this a pre-planned witch-hunt by Azmin and gang to divide, rule and injure the party’s image?

“Why was no stern action taken against Mansor?” she asked.

Lee was charged with making disparaging comments in Facebook on certain party leaders, especially Azmin.

Lacking credibility

The show-cause letter accused her of saying, among others, that “Azmin is anak angkat (adopted son of) Mahathir (Mohamad), he has never stayed away from Umno in terms of connections, so to enjoy money dropping from the sky…”

Lee is alleged to have said that “it was a fact that Azmin was the adopted son of Mahathir’s wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and there was close family ties between both of them”.

In her reply, Lee has challenged Azmin to explain about his approved permit (AP) imported car business, operational until today.

“Why is that no one from Umno is making any noise about Azmin APs and imported car business?” she asked.

She claimed that 90% of the current supreme council members lacked credibility and won because they hopped onto Azmin’s bandwagon.

She claimed the party election was marred by frauds and malpractices, and slammed Anwar for being a lame duck on the issue.

“The 2010 PKR election could have been a milestone in Malaysian political history. But Anwar chose to make it into a universal laughing stock because of Azmin,” she claimed.

Lee also criticised the party for not taking any action despite numerous complaints by aggrieved quarters over electoral malpractices.

The complainants included Zaid, another deputy president candidate Mustafa Kamil Ayub and national Youth leadership contestant Badrul Hisham Shaharin or Chegu Bard.

“How can someone like Azmin, who flunked the internal KPI, and is accused of being aloof and lacking grassroots support, be an effective leader by example?” she asked.

She also said that her show-cause letter was based on eavesdropped information collected from her chat with family members, relatives and friends in her Facebook wall.

“My Facebook conversations are similar to private conversations I have at home.

“Is it logical for PKR to ask all its members to officially explain every private conversation they have at home?” she asked.

  1. how come Azmin is deputy president of PKR and his sister Ummi against Anwar, his boss? I cannot see the rationale behind all this. Azmin got kickbacks from Umno???

  2. It can't be denied that there are so many trojan horses inside PKR..Anwar seems to be blinded by people around him, who seem to be supporters but merely using him as a tool to further their own selfish political career..aka opportunists.
